Do you need direction in your life today? Maybe you are facing an important decision in your job, at home, or in your relationships. Know this: God, Himself, will teach you what you should do. He promises to show you the path you should take. He's watching over you and giving you advice every step of the way. See, God's not just concerned with the goal, or end result. It's not just about getting you from point "A" to point "B." He is with you every step of the way during the entire process. He wants to see your character develop and mature. Most times, our growth in life happens when circumstances seem to be the most uncertain. Those uncertain times cause us to rely more on God. No matter how uncertain things may seem, God still has His eye on you. He's making sure you make the right choices. He's working with you to shape your character and attitude. Remember, He's promised to never leave you or forsake you. You may not always know the answer right away, but He's instructing you and teaching you and leading you into blessing all the days of your life.
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, thank You for teaching and guiding me and giving me direction in my life. I receive Your counsel today. Help me to be more like You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

It is only by going through difficulties that we become strong. By opening up to love when we are facing such trials we can understand that we are not alone but have the unconditional support that we need from angels.

Scripture Challenge {Week 25}
Week 25 Challenge Word: Holy

I thought we should look at our Holy God this week! What is holiness? What do we think of and how do we approach our Holy God? Max Lucado states “The word hallowed comes from the word ‘holy,’ and the word ‘holy’ means ‘to separate.’ The ancestry of the term can be traced back to an ancient word which means ‘to cut.’ To be holy, then, is to be a cut above the norm, superior, extraordinary. . . The Holy One dwells on a different level from the rest of us. What frightens us does not frighten Him. What troubles us does not trouble Him. When you set your eyes on our God, you focus on one ‘a cut above’ any storm life may bring.”Wow, Mr. Lucado said it absolutely perfectly! See why I just need to quote people sometimes. What is your response to His holiness?

The book of Isaiah speaks a lot about God’s holiness. In Isaiah 6:3 and Revelation 4:8, we see the word holy repeated three times. The Hebrews repeat words to emphasize something. So, as we read these verses, we understand that the Lord has the ultimate holiness. Those verses also make me think of one of my favorite hymns "Holy, Holy, Holy" written by Reginald Heber (1783-1826). Look at the lyrics in this amazing hymn:Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee,Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,Perfect in power, in love, and purity.Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!All Thy works shall praise Thy Name, in earth, and sky, and sea;Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!Look at the lyrics I have highlighted in blue. So powerful and so true. I really could have highlighted the whole hymn. Ha! I just love old hymns and how they truly show who God is.Also in the book of Isaiah, the term Holy One is used 25 times.

Some other fun facts are that:Holy Father is only used once in the entire Bible (NIV).Holy One is used 56 times; 25 of those being in the book of Isaiah.Holy Scriptures is used twice.

Refuse to Worry

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
God doesn't want you to live worried and anxious about anything. He knows that worry is counterproductive. It steals your peace and joy and affects every area of your life, even your sleep! Have you heard the saying, "Don't worry yourself sick?" Yes, worrying will actually make you physically ill. You won't ever gain anything by worrying, in fact it causes you to lose precious moments that you can never live again. The good news is, God has promised to bring you victory over worry. When you make the choice to put an end to worry, God will give you His peace.
Decide today to put an end to worry in your life. Don't feed worry by focusing on bad news all the time. Sure, we should be informed, but we should be most informed of the truth of the Word of God. Choose today to feed your faith and fill your heart and mind with God's promises. Declare everyday, "My God shall supply all my needs. He makes a way out of no way. He is a Restorer and Redeemer." As you focus on God's Word, you'll drive out worry and fill your heart with faith and expectancy. You'll be filled with hope and joy and move forward into the blessings God has in store for you.
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, today I choose to put an end to worry in my life. I choose to feed my faith by studying in Your promises and declare your Word over my life. Help me to totally trust in You today and always. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Scripture Challenge {Week 24}
For our 24th week, you will not find a lot of verses containing our word but I think it is something we need to look at. As I studied, I referenced many devotionals. One was really good, and I will quote it for you here this week. I hope you will enjoy looking at this difficult word, and I hope you will grow in your studies as you do. Now, you are probably wondering what this word is. Well, it is:

Week 24 Challenge Word: Doubt

All Christians face difficulties and sometimes doubt. How does doubt make you feel? Probably uncomfortable or even guilty that you could be doubting God. Let’s look at what doubt is. A devotional in my Zondervan Mom’s Devotional Bible says,“Doubts are different from unbelief. To doubt is not to reject. A doubt is an uncertainty of belief, a suspension of judgment. Doubt is a temporary attitude of questioning whereas unbelief is a prolonged attitude that rejects something or views it as impossible. Don’t be afraid to doubt. Don’t be afraid to question. God is big enough and powerful enough to handle our doubts and answer our questions.”I think that is such a powerful sentence: “temporary attitude of questioning.” We can tell Him the questions we have but don’t give in to your doubts. Focus on Him instead. Give it to God and trust Him to keep you from falling. Be careful where you share and spread your doubts. Giving them to God is what we should do but as our teaching leader in.

Do you ever stretch the truth just a little? How about those little white lies or those half truths? Do you know that all of these are not actually truths at all? God calls them all lies, and they can affect every part of your life. The Bible tells us that God cannot lie. Not that He doesn’t want to lie; He cannot lie!Titus 1:2 says “a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,” andHebrews 6:18 says “God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged.”Yet John 8:44 tells us that the devil does lie “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”When God makes a promise, He keeps it. When He says something, He means it. We must know the truth of God’s Word. There are false teachers trying to deceive us. Know His word for yourself. Know why you believe it. Speak His truth, and be a good example to those around you (kids, family, friends, co-workers, and strangers alike).

Every believer has been given a measure of faith. In order to see the promises of God come to pass in your life, you have to give your faith a voice. You must declare what God says about you in His Word. Those seeds of faith inside you are activated when you speak them out into the atmosphere. That’s why the scripture tells us, “Let the weak say I am strong. Let the poor say I am rich.” When you give your faith a voice and send forth the Word of God out of your mouth, the Bible says that He watches over His Word to bring it to pass in your life. Don’t dig up your seed by speaking against His Word. Don’t allow words of defeat or negativity to come out of your mouth. Instead, water your seed by continuing to declare the Word of God. When you wake up every morning, thank Him that His promises are coming to pass in your life. As you do, you will see those things come to pass, and you will live the life of victory God has prepared for you.
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, I humbly come before You giving You my thoughts, my actions, and my words. Help me to activate my faith by speaking Your Word daily. May my words and thoughts be pleasing to You always. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

It's not our time it HIS time that we must worry about, we want things to happen now...... but if you Just call on the lord and wait (on his time) for his answers, everything will be OK and work out fine... Scripture Challenge {Week 18}
As I sat down to look at the word we would use this week, God led me to the word “fruit.” Then as I was reading a devotional, there was a quote from First Lady Barbara Bush. The quote said “At the end of your life, you’ll never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict, or not closing one more deal. You will regret times not spent with a husband, a friend, a child or a parent.”

Week 18 Challenge Word: Fruit ** What is fruit?

I know you all know we are not talking about bananas, apples, and grapes. We are talking about God’s nature exhibited in us. Genuine faith bears fruit. It is an expectation for believers.

John 15:5 says “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Max Lucado states that the fruit of the Spirit is “the result of His ministry in our hearts.” As we grow in Christ, we will produce more fruit.

No matter where we are planted or what our upbringing was, we can bear fruit through prayer, Bible study, and sharing the gospel. Pruning (trials) is also necessary for our growth so that we can bear more fruit for His glory!

Do you share Christ? Do you apply Biblical truths to your everyday life? Where is the fruit in your life? How is God pruning you to bear more fruit? Do others see the fruit of God in you? Are you giving out sweet, healthy fruit to others?

I pray that you will look at this word this week and look for those chances to bear fruit for Him. Have a joyful and fruit-filled week.

The Hebrew word for wisdom is “hokmah’ which is translated “skill for living.” Wisdom is applying what you know. Apply God’s truths to the way you live.
Rosemary Jensen, former executive director of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) wrote “Wisdom comes when we examine the experiences God gives us and discern what we have or should have learned from them. Nothing that has happened to us should be wasted.” We gain wisdom by reading God’s Word, understanding it, and applying it. We must know His Word for ourselves and know why we believe what we believe and be able to personally grasp it for ourselves.The book of Proverbs has many verses on wisdom and living an obedient life to God. We can read it, listen to what His word says, and grow in wisdom. The introduction to Proverbs in my Bible says “Solomon spoke ‘three thousand proverbs’ (1 Kings 4:32), many of which are collected in this book. These wise sayings describe patterns to operate in everyday life, offering us advice on how to conduct ourselves in various situations. Solomon’s fundamental instruction is to fear and trust the Lord. As you read this book, remember that God has something to say about every aspect of your life; seek His wisdom in the decisions you must make each day.” Wow, such great advice. And you can always ask God to give you His wisdom in every situation in your life every single day!
Proverbs 2:6 "For the Lord gives wisdom and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding."

Week 22 Challenge Word: Time

Okay, so I imagine most of us can say we never have enough time in our day to do what we would like. I am sure many of us would love more scrappy/crafting time, time to read a fictional book, time to just lounge at the pool, or whatever. Well, what about God? What does He think about how you use your time each day? How much of your time does He get? Does He get what time is left over or do you plan your time around Him?It seems it is so easy to let the world steal our focus and our time each day? There are so many things demanding our attention each day—our kids, husbands, homes, chores, school, practices, computers, etc., etc., etc. I am sure that each of our lists are very long. However we need to remember that it is worth our time to spend time with Him (in His Word, in prayer, in daily application). We need time away with God each day that is still and focused. We not only need some time, we need chunks of time. He will then guide us and give us the strength and help us to do what He wants us to do with our time each day. Protect that time with Him. Resist answering the telephone or answering the door. Spend time with Him. Think about investing your time each day in things that will last through eternity.Max Lucado says “If we are not careful with our time, we will allow others to fill it up for us. There will be no time for God. Approach your day in a new way. How much time do you spend driving, working, or eating? What time is wasted? Replace wasted time with an activity that has value in the Kingdom of God.” Trim those time wasters and you will actually add minutes and hours to your day!For my card this week, I got to use the amazing new June kit from Create My Keepsake. Now the clock was not in the kit but how could I not put a clock on this week’s card? :) Anyway, the verses I chose are some of my favorites:Ecclesiastes 3:1-8—"There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."Ecclesiastes 3:11—"He has made everything beautiful in its time. . ."I hope that you are able to eliminate those time wasters this week and invest your time in Him and the way He wants you to use it.
