Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

This is the Day
Today's Scripture

“This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
Every day that we are given is a precious gift from Almighty God. We should wake up every morning with a grateful attitude, full of faith and expectancy for what the Lord has in store. Sure, you may be facing some challenges in your every day life, or maybe things aren’t going the way you planned, but remember, each new day is a chance to stand strong in the midst of adversity and see the faithfulness of God. Every new day is an opportunity to praise and thank Him; to magnify your God instead of magnifying your problems. This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Be glad that God has promised to never leave us or forsake us. Be glad that God has given you a sound, healthy mind. Rejoice that He is making a way where there seems to be no way! As you focus on the gift of every day and rejoice in what God has done in your life, you will begin to experience His increase and blessings. You’ll rise up higher and set the course to live in victory all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, today I choose to rejoice in You. Thank You for this day and for every opportunity that You’ve given me to bless and praise You. I give You everything I am today and always. In Jesus Name’. Amen.

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Completely Satisfied
Today's Scripture

“Blessed, fortunate, happy and spiritually prosperous…are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, uprightness and right standing with God, for they shall be completely satisfied” (Matthew 5:6 ).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
God longs to pour out his abundant blessing on every area of your life. He wants you to live completely satisfied. When you hunger and thirst for righteousness--God’s way of doing things--then you will live in complete satisfaction. You direct your hunger by choosing what you focus on. For example, if you focus on your favorite food, if you start thinking about it early in the morning, and all throughout the day, chances are, by the end of the day you’ll be eating it! What you give your attention to, you will desire. In the same way, the more you give your attention to God and His Word, the more you will hunger for Him. Just like the scripture promises, when you hunger for righteousness, you will be completely satisfied. The world offers so many things for you to give your attention to, but they aren’t things that will satisfy. You might think you want a particular car, or certain clothes, or live in a particular neighborhood. There’s nothing wrong with those things, but understand that “things” won’t ever satisfy you. Recognize that only God will satisfy you. As you hunger for Him, you’ll live in peace and blessing and live completely satisfied all the days of your life!
A Prayer for Today
Father in Heaven, I come to You today, I ask for forgiveness for allowing anything to capture my heart and attention more than You. I choose today to give You top priority, and choose to hunger for Your righteousness. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper].—Colossians 3:12 When you pray for other people, it may seem that they get worse before they get better. The devil wants to discourage you from believing that God is answering your prayers. The apostle Paul said that he learned not to be discouraged even when going through terrible trials. He said to look to the things that are unseen, not to the things that are seen (See 2 Corinthians 4:18). Keep believing, and the power of the Holy Spirit will fill you with joy and peace until you are overflowing with hope (See Romans 15:13). Always trust God to answer your prayers.

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

The Place of Blessing
Today's Scripture

“Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there” (I Kings 17:2-4).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
As a child of the Most High God, your steps are ordered by Him. He has a specific place of blessing prepared for you. When you live a life of obedience to the Word of God, He promises to supply every one of your needs. Just as God directed Elijah to his place of blessing, God is directing you, too. He’s aligning the right opportunities for you and causing the right people to come along your path to help you get ahead. He’s constantly working behind the scenes on your behalf. But you have to do your part to keep your heart open by following His Word and keeping an attitude of faith and expectancy. A major key to keeping your heart in the right place is choosing peace and unity. The Bible says that when we live in unity, there He has commanded the blessing. And when your heart is in the place of blessing, the rest of your life will be in the place of blessing, too!
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I come to You with a grateful heart. Thank You for leading me and directing my steps. Help me to see others the way You see them so I can honor You and live in unity all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Rest for Your Soul
Today's Scripture

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
God wants to give you rest. He wants to refresh and restore your soul, which is your mind, will and emotions. It’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, and before long, your mind, will and emotions are so “spun up” that you can barely think straight! But even among the hustle of life, you can find rest, ease and relaxation. God wants you to enjoy your life. That’s why He tells us to come to Him. When you understand that God wants to take care of everything that concerns you, you will be able to find rest. Imagine that someone came up to you today and said, “Give me all your monthly bills, I’m going to pay them.” You’d get pretty excited, wouldn’t you? But it wouldn’t happen until you did your part to give that person your bills. They couldn’t pay them for you if you never release them. In the same way, when we release our cares and concerns to God, He promises to take care of them. Choose today to release your cares to the Lord. As you do, you’ll find that rest that He promises, and you’ll live the abundant life He has for you!

A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, today I humbly come to you. I choose to cast my cares on You so that I can live in Your rest. Thank You for Your goodness to me. Help me find ways to share Your goodness with those around me today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Give Cheerfully
Today's Scripture

“Let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (II Corinthians 9:7)
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
God has set up a system to bless and prosper you; it’s the system of sowing and reaping. When you give, God promises that blessings will come back to you in greater measure. Just like sowing a seed in the ground produces an abundant harvest, when you sow financially, you will reap a harvest of blessing in your life in return. Notice in the verse that God is concerned more about how we give than what we give. He loves it when you give with a cheerful heart because that shows that you are trusting in His promises. It shows that you love Him and love following His commands. When you understand that God wants to bless you, you can’t help but give with a cheerful heart! Meditate on His wonderful blessings today and allow that joyful attitude to rise up in your heart. Be a cheerful giver and expect His increase and blessing in every area of your life.
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, today I come before You giving You all that I am. I choose to be a cheerful giver because I love You. Help me to honor You in everything I say and do. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

The Power of Peace
Today's Scripture

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
No matter what may be going on all around you today, you can still live in peace. The scripture encourages us to not let our hearts be troubled. In other words, don’t meditate on all the negative things in this world to the point that it steals your peace. If you have fear, worry or anxiety about anything, recognize that those feelings aren’t from God because He has promised to give you a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. There is tremendous power in peace. When you are at peace internally, you can think more clearly. You can hear the voice of God more easily. You’ll make better decisions. Even your physical body responds to peace. The enemy knows this, and his goal is to steal your peace. He tries to set you up to get upset. But when you choose to receive God’s peace, then no weapon formed against you shall prosper. You can live in peace, you can live in joy, and you can live the abundant life God has for you.
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your gift of peace in my life. I choose to receive Your peace in my heart and hold it close to me always. I receive Your Word as truth and life to my soul. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Christians By Maya Angelo

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin'.
'I'm whispering 'I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need
Christ to be my guide. When I say... '
I am a Christian'
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.
When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.
When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible But,
God believes I am worth it.
When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.
When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Scripture Challenge - Week 27 - Rest

Scripture Challenge {Week 27} - copied and pasted from Patter Blog!

I was reading a devotion that basically said God does not want us working from sun up to sun down without a bit of rest. We are not to work ourselves silly which is what I did on Monday. Well, I laughed when I read that because I felt like God was clearly telling me that I needed to add some rest time to this new schedule. So, I did, and my week has been amazing. I have accomplished more and had great rest times. So, can you guess our word after my learning experience this week? You guessed it! Rest!

Week 27 Challenge Word: Rest
Now, we are not going to discuss the Sabbath rest that God commands. We will do that another week. We are going to discuss the daily rest we all need to do God’s work effectively. God rested and so should we. We need to give ourselves permission to rest and play each day.
Webster’s defines rest as “refreshing ease or inactivity after work or exertion; a period or occasion of inactivity; relief from anything tiring.”Are you empty and exhausted because of the daily demands asked of you? You try to rest but then someone or something demands your attention. Stress is all around us and it compounds itself daily. We need to be able to give ourselves permission to rest. I think as mothers, we have a terrible time doing that! Jesus worked tirelessly yet He would still find a solitary place to rest and pray to His Father. (Mark 1:29-35) Ask the Lord to help you carry the load. He will, and He will give you rest.
A devotion by Diane Head talks about moms and our schedules as the “great carpool of life.” Does that describe you? She goes on to say that “Today’s mother’s need rest. Rest for the soul is the most desirable rest. It affects not only our spiritual health but our emotional and physical health as well. The only way to receive this rest is to sit at Christ’s feet and hear His word, to take the time to learn more about who He is and what He is like.” Are you taking that time? Change your daily schedule to include rest and time with the Lord. Make a list of how you rested this past week. Is your list short or empty? Ask God what you can change to include some rest so that you are more able to care for the needs of others and do His work effectively.

Hello everyone .. Happy Monday....
I found these new looks from Vogue patterns... what a nice outfit .... I'll be visiting Hancock fabric and start making my clothing again....

Scripture Challenge {Week 26} ( copied and Pasted from Patter Blog).
Can you believe we are officially in our 26th week? We are half way through the year! Wow! Incredible! I pray you are still enjoying the study each week. Look at where you were when we began on January 7th. Maybe look back through your journal.
Where are you now? I'm doing digital scrapbooking now, until I move to NC, were all my scrapbooking things are....And them I'm planning on doing all the weeks that are digital on hard copies to include on my ATC card holder....
How have you become more Christ-like? I think I've been moving closer to GOD, I'm working toward the almighty .. and still walking stronger with him.
**********We must guard our tongue .. and be careful of what comes out of our mouths, some things you can never take back....Be mindful or what you say....have a blessed day!
Week 26 Challenge Word: Tongue

Did you just say “Ouch”? Yes, we need to look at how we use that oh so small muscle. Do we use our tongue to destroy or to heal? Do we use it to tear down or build up? A lesson I learned many, many years ago in BSF was that if you wouldn't say something if that person were standing right there beside you, then don’t say it at all. It has been such a huge reminder for me, and I have taught it to the girls. Just pretend the person you are talking about is standing right there with you. Would they be pleased to hear the words you speak about them or would they be deeply hurt? Think before you speak. Ask for forgiveness if you slip up.When Jesus spoke, the people were amazed. Look at Luke 4:22 “All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from His lips.”
As Christians, we have a responsibility to guard our tongues.
Remember that our words need to be sweet whenever we open our mouth.
Patter chose the following verses:Psalm 139:4 “Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.”Proverbs 10:19 “. . . he who holds his tongue is wise.”

Scripture Challenge - Week 28 - Strength

Challenge Word: Strength

Okay, last week we talked about being weary and needing rest and truly resting in the Lord. Well, where does your strength come from when you need it? When you are scared of making a change in your life or there is an illness in your family, how do you handle it? To whom do you turn? God will send us strength each and every day to face whatever we need to face. Look at how He supplied daily nourishment to the Israelites by sending manna from Heaven (Exodus 16:4). Where are you looking for your daily nourishment?

Webster’s defines strength as “the power to resist stress; a toughness or durability.” That makes me think of the Energizer bunny. I think most of us try to be tough or say we are not stressed; we are durable. We will last. Unfortunately, our own batteries will run out if we don’t rely on the precious strength and durability given to us by our precious Lord.
Read Isaiah 40:29-31. This tells us that God’s strength and power are available to those who trust in Him and not themselves. God is greater than our most impossible task. Turn to the Lord. He will strengthen you for anything you face.

(Patter Blog she used - these favorites)
I chose:
1 Chronicles 16:11 “Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always."
Psalm 18:1 “I love you, O Lord, my strength.”
Philippians 4:13 “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”

The Path To Joy! Benefits

10 Principles of Spiritual Optimism (Copied and Pated from Benefits)

By Deepak Chopra In his newest book, "Why is God Laughing?" renowned teacher Deepak Chopra gives a humorous take on spirituality--using a fictional tale of a comedian and his unlikely mentor to show the way back to hope, joy, and even enlightenment. Here are 10 principles for spiritual optimism adapted from the fable that will help you direct your life on a path to joy every single day.

1. The Healthiest Response to Life Is Laughter.
(This first principle serves as an antidote to fear and sorrow by encouraging you to experience life as joyous....When you feel momentary happiness, or you want to burst out laughing, or you smile for no apparent reason, you are glimpsing eternal reality....In time, these moments of joy will begin to knit together. Instead of the exception, they will become the norm. There is no better way to know that you are growing in God-realization.)
2. There Is Always a Reason to Be Grateful.
3. You Belong in the Scheme of the Universe. There's Nothing to Be Afraid Of. You Are Safe
(The third principle is the antidote for insecurity....The role assigned to you is right and proper. It is tailor-made for you, for your complete self....The voice of fear tries to convince you that you are a helpless victim of chance. The very opposite is true. At the deepest level, the level of the soul, you are the author of everything that happens to you. )
4. Your Soul Cherishes Every Aspect of Your Life.

5. There Is a Plan, and Your Soul Knows What It Is.
(The fifth principle is the antidote to meaninglessness. It states that your life has a purpose. You determine that purpose at the soul level, and then that purpose unfolds in daily life as part of the divine plan. The more deeply you are connected to the plan, the more powerful it becomes in your life. Ultimately, nothing can stop it.)
6. Ecstasy Is the Energy of Spirit. When Life Flows, Energy Is Natural.
7. There Is a Creative Solution to Every Problem. Every Possibility Holds the Promise of Abundance. ***JUST a NOTE****
(The seventh principle is the antidote to failure. It tells us that every question includes its own answer. The only reason a problem arises before its solution is that our minds are limited - we think in terms of sequences, of before and after. Outside the narrow boundaries of time, problems and solutions arise at the same instant. )
8. Obstacles are Opportunities in Disguise.
9. Evolution Leads the Way Through Desire.
10. Freedom Is Letting Go.

Have a Blessed day! .... Get out and have fun!

The New York City Waterfalls

The New York City Waterfalls -
check out the website for pictures.... http://nyfalls.com/nycwaterfalls.html

NYC is HOSTING !
New York City is hosting an exciting art exhibit featuring spectacular man-made waterfalls 90 to 120 feet (27 to 37 meters). They are softly lit at night and available for everyone to see. There are 4 waterfalls in total.
The New York City Waterfalls were constructed using building elements that are ubiquitous throughout New York: scaffolding is the backbone of the structures, and pumps bring water from the East River to the top; the water then falls from heights of 90 to 120 feet back into the river. Fish and aquatic life are protected by filtering the water through intake pools suspended in the river. To build the Waterfalls, Public Art Fund partnered with Tishman Construction Corporation and has engaged a team of design, engineering and construction professionals.
The New York City Waterfalls are visible by land and boat, and because of their proximity to one another, viewers can see multiple waterfalls from various vantage points in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Governors Island. Dedicated boat journeys to view the Waterfalls, organized by the Public Art Fund in partnership with Circle Line Downtown, leave from Pier 16 in Manhattan and provide up-close views of the installations. The Circle Line will provide free and discounted trips daily for the public. The free Governors Island Ferry, which runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the length of the project, and the Staten Island Ferry also provide views of the waterfalls at Governors Island and between Piers 4 and 5 in Brooklyn. Download the brochure.

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

All Things Are Possible
Today's Scripture

"
What is impossible with men is possible with God" (Luke 18:27).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
Is there a situation in your life today that seems impossible? As a child of the Most High God, you are not limited by what you see. You are not limited by your circumstances, the economy, or what others say because with God all things are possible! It doesn't matter how it may look in the natural, when you see things through your eyes of faith, you will see new possibilities. You will see the answer that is on its way!
It all starts by having a grateful attitude: an attitude of faith and expectancy. When you declare the promises of God over your life and meditate on His Word, it activates faith in your heart. Faith draws the good things of God into your life. When you wake up every morning, declare that with God all things are possible. Declare that you are blessed and you cannot be cursed. Declare that you are above only and not beneath. Expect God's favor and blessing in your life every day. Horoscope Thursday!

Your horoscope for Thursday, Jul 10, 2008
Pisces
(Feb 19 - Mar 20)

Getting angry with others may be an effective way to blow off a little steam, but it won't likely win anyone over to your perspective. Nevertheless, if your position is a sensible one, gentle persuasion and accurate facts should allow you to line up one or two key authorities who would be willing to weigh in on your side. With a very small number of key allies, you should be able to attract all the help you need.

Happy Hump Day!

Strong On Your Behalf
Today's Scripture

"The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal toward Him" (II Chronicles 16:9).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
God wants to show Himself strong on your behalf! He's looking for hearts that are faithful to Him. He wants to amaze you with His goodness, and make you an example of His faithfulness—especially when everything around you seems difficult. It's not much of a stretch to believe for blessing and promotion when everyone is being blessed. When everything is going great around you, it's easy for people to look at your life and say, "Oh, that's just because the economy is strong and we live in a land of abundance." But when things don't look so good and you prosper anyway, that's a greater testimony to the world. People will know that it makes a difference to serve the Most High God!
Keep your heart turned toward God and expect increase even if things look difficult. Remember, God wants to show Himself strong on your behalf. He is building a testimony in you. He wants to pour out His abundant blessing and fulfill every dream and desire in your heart to His glory!
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, thank You for Your goodness and desire to show Yourself strong on my behalf. I invite You to work in my life. Keep my heart and mind close to You always. I bless Your Holy Name. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Before: Tiered Wire Basket
Old Use: Typically found stashing fruit in your kitchen, this wire basket is filled with storage possibilities.
Approximate Cost: $10
